I like to hang on to summer for as long as I can,

I like to hang on to summer for as long as I can, especially when it's been like this year's ☔☁️☂️☔💦☁️ but this morning was chilly so I've to put on a jumper. But it is over a summer dress! I've still got leggings and a coat to add before I need to go back to wearing winter things!

Other things I like to do to hang on to summer:
Get outside, especially when it's sunny
Go blackberry picking
Admire the flowers in other people's gardens before the frost gets them
Sit out in the garden, with a blanket and a hot drink if necessary
Dry washing outside as much as I can
Make jam

I've been doing my current favourite thing of making colour schemes from photos.

The pictures are of Lake Skadar in Montenegro. It was probably my favourite thing about that holiday. It was beautiful, very peaceful and there was lots of wildlife.

Often I'll visit somewhere, and it's so lovely that I want to make something. Photos are nice, but the photos I take with my phone don't always do justice to what's there.

Taking some of the colours to make a colour scheme means that I could make something, like granny squares or patchwork, but it's hard to do.

My tip is to pixelate the photo first!

Sometimes limits can be a good thing ☺️

This was a little painting experiment to see what variety of greens were possible with lemon yellow and Prussian blue.

I found there are quite a lot!

You don't have to be a painter to do a fun, creative thing with paint 🖌️🎨

Having more isn't always the answer. Sometimes limits can be useful.

Painting a picture with fewer colours, and mixing extra colours from what you have, usually results in a better painting.

Deciding on a limited number of colours will stop whatever it is you're making from looking chaotic and too busy.

Using what we have already can help prevent us from feeling overwhelmed or guilty for buying more.

Sometimes it's more fun to use our creativity and resourcefulness to make something from what we have already!
