Creative Things to Do When Your Energy Levels are Low

We are now halfway through February, and at my house, everybody is tired. There are signs of spring, but it is still cold, the mornings are dark still when I get up (although I did notice today that it was light at 7 o’clock while I was in…

Candlemas on the 2nd February marks not only the official end of Christmas, but is also the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. In the farming calendar, it was when the lambing season would begin. Even though it is not spring yet, I’ve noticed…

We’re now into December, and I’m not doing Christmas crafts. That sounds really grumpy, and anti- Christmas! I actually don’t have a problem with people doing Christmas crafts. It’s just that I have made the decision that I won’t, other than the Advent candle, which is already done,…

I think being a homebody is one of the reasons why I like sewing and making things. With this being the case, it probably comes as no surprise that I like books and reading just as much! My funny old house is stuffed full of books. Looking at…

I actually quite like winter, but I know a lot of people don’t. It’s easy to see why. When I worked outside of the home in a conventional job, one of the worst things was leaving home in the dark, then leaving work in the dark. For a…

    DIY Winter Dress Tutorial

DIY Winter Dress Tutorial It always makes me a little bit sad at the end of the summer when I have to put away my pretty dresses and dig out my dreary, sensible winter things instead. This year has been a good year for the pretty dresses. Not…

Friday weirdness fix 🤪😂 Things have been a Friday weirdness fix 🤪😂

Things have been a bit quiet recently because I have been finishing off another huge unit for my textiles degree.

As I could have predicted, I got hideously behind and needed about 2 months when I only had a week!

Anyway, I managed to pull it out of the bag and got enough done and sorted out to hand in, and I only had a couple of minor meltdowns 👍

I went out for a walk in the snow, and I was struc I went out for a walk in the snow, and I was struck by how the winter sunlight made the trees look coppery, and how lovely the copperiness was against the blue sky.

I do think noticing is enough. It's not always necessary to make or do something, especially if it feels more like proving that you saw it rather than wanting to.

There are some ideas cooking away in my head for things I might do, and having some ideas of colours already could be useful. So I made a colour scheme from the photo I took 🪾💙❄️

I went for two lovely walks today round my snowy village 💖❄️

I love the colours in the last photo. It's so easy to think of winter of nothing but grey and monochrome, but today was beautiful. I noticed coppery trees in the sunlight, against a pale blue sky 🪾❄️💖

Being out in nature always feels precious. It does Being out in nature always feels precious. It doesn't matter very much what time of year it is, or what the weather is doing.

Today I wanted to get outside while it was still light. Yesterday it was after 3pm and it was already gloomy!

Today is lovely and bright, even though everywhere is damp and muddy after all the rain.
