This post contains affiliate links. Creativity is an odd thing sometimes. Usually I have lots of ideas, but this hasn’t been the case as much recently. Alan Turing apparently had his best ideas in the bath, and I suspect there’s something in feeling relaxed that helps ideas to…

I’ve been selling craft kits on Etsy for a while now, and, as ideas go, it’s proved to be one of my better ones. When I opened a shop on Etsy I had no idea what I was doing and I only hit on the craft kits idea…

Ooh lockdown! We’re now into the fifth week of this in the UK and it goes without saying that it is an odd time. I know we’re safe here, tucked up at home. Our house is on the small side, but it’s not that small. Not in comparison…

It’s the first time in several years that we’re actually at home for Easter. This isn’t what we’d planned! Easter is a good time to go on holiday. The bank holidays mean extra days and the weather is often alright (and sometimes lovely!). We had planned a trip…

It’s time for a random post about something that’s nothing at all to do with sewing or making stuff! You probably know already that I have 4 boys, and you might also know that I home educate the younger 2. I did have the 2nd one at home…

Making some DIY reusable cloths is a nice, quick and easy little project. It’s also one of these where you might have the stuff you need to make them already! They’re easy to batch as well, so you can make a few in one go. I made these…

These are the days I live now. Everything is green These are the days I live now. Everything is green. There are flowers in the hedgerows and verges, elder and buttercups and long grass. Things that were stark in winter are now cushioned by all the green.

Not a project that can be done in an afternoon! It's taken about a week just to make a tiny bit and could probably have left them for longer.

I love how nettle like the yarn is. It's quite soft and smells of plants.

It's ridiculously hot but at least it's cooler in It's ridiculously hot but at least it's cooler in the woods 🌳🌿

Apparently it's not just because it's shady. It's also because trees do a thing called evapotranspiration which means they release moisture into the air. So it's basically nature's air conditioning 🌿🌞💖

So if you are too hot and you are able to, find yourself a wood. Or even a clump of trees will do.

If you like the idea of having something to do while you are there, I have written a new guide, called What to do in the Woods in Summer: A Guide for Creative People. It's quite a lot like the Wild Blossom Companion, there's a little bit to read, some forest bathing style things to do, some gentle, open ended creative things to do while you are there, and some more for when you get home if you want to stretch it out a bit more. The link is in my bio.
