    Autumn Crafts For Children

Last Sunday afternoon Boy 1 had a birthday party to go to, so I took the opportunity to have some autumn crafty fun with the other boys. This is not an exhaustive list of crafty things you can do with leaves, but it was enough to keep my…

Hanging my autumn bunting up on the front of my house seems to have brought about a change in the weather. It is most definitely autumn now. Wet, cold and windy means warm socks, boots, coats and hot chocolate, not to mention looking at beautiful autumns, mostly in…

Back in July I made some bunting to string up on the front of the house to celebrate the start of the summer holidays. I had planned to take to down the next day, then I decided to leave it up for a week, but I liked it…

An Autumn Felted Picture Part 2

    October 9, 2014March 23, 2016 Living a Creative Life

Last week I decided it was time to start autumning things up a bit and also time to have another go at wet felting, so I embarked on an autumn felted picture. I used the woolly tufts that were in suitably autumnal colours and this was the result!…

It’s October! Yay! Definitely officially autumn! Although it does not really feel like autumn at the moment as it’s so warm and the leaves are still more green than anything. I like autumn. Being uncomfortably hot is as bad as being too cold in my opinion. Sunny autumn…

February is the doorway between winter and spring February is the doorway between winter and spring ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค๐ŸŒฑโ„๏ธ

The days stay light a little bit longer. Twigs are tipped with buds, and the green swords if daffodils are cutting through the cold ground. Even when it is cold, there is sometimes a hint of spring in the air, and the promise of green things waiting.

February always seems like a green and white kind of month. Snowdrops, obviously, but also I'm surprised at how much green there is at the beginning of February. The lack of leaves make the greens of moss and lichen, and of evergreens, more noticeable.

By the end of February, there'll be blossom, and maybe even a few leaves ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ฎ

So I gave in and got a gelli plate. I didn't befor So I gave in and got a gelli plate. I didn't before because I thought it was probably not the best idea to get myself into another thing that was potentially addicting! But due to the kerfuffle in finishing the next unit of my textiles degree, I missed the deadline to start in February, so I start the next unit in March. And I still wanted to try it.

These are the best results from my first attempts. The first one is my favourite, which I made with a piece of hessian. The second one was also hessian, and the last 2 were bubble wrap. But even the ones that didn't turn out that well had interesting bits, and the others could probably be used for backgrounds or collage.

I'm going to carry on experimenting. If you've tried printing with a gelli plate and you have some suggestions, please let me know!
