Carry Strap for a Stroller Tutorial

Now that Boy 4 is 2 1/2, he’s at that stage where not taking the buggy seams like a good idea. A few hours into the day though, and I’m wishing that I had it! That boy weighs a ton. I have well developed arm muscles from carrying…

As Boy 4 has been insisting, “Make mine trackies. Make them now,” I’ve had the perfect excuse to do some sewing during the daytime when I am supposed to be playing with him or doing domestic stuff! I made him some dungarees a few weeks ago (you can…

As Boy 4 still does not object to being dressed up like a dolly, I have decided to make the most of it, especially as there may only be a few more months left before he really starts to resist! Last week I took him off to visit…

Ever since Boy 1 permanently lost his book bag on the way home from gymnastics, I  had planned to make him a new messenger bag. I was on the lookout for the perfect fabric and, during the Easter holidays, I found it! He loves everything to do with…

    Making an Easter Garden

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. John 20:1 Making an Easter garden with the boys was something I’d planned to do the week before Easter….

2 things from today 💖 The first is a tree outs 2 things from today 💖

The first is a tree outside the co op in my village. It is a treat all year round, and it makes me feel a little bit warmer knowing that those berries are going to keep some little birds going this winter.

The second is a ball of yarn I have been making over a few days, from cotton, and tissue paper from a present.

Special things can be found in the ordinary 💖🐦‍⬛🧶

This morning my 16 year old peered out of the wind This morning my 16 year old peered out of the window and remarked that it wasn't really light yet!

It has been a grey, drizzly day. My youngest boy and I went out for a short walk, and I noticed the beautiful holly tree in somebody's garden, all glossy leaves and bright berries.

Before lunch, we made our Advent candle. We've been making our own from beeswax sheets for a few years now. It felt like the perfect thing to do on a gloomy day.

We lit it at dinner time, in amongst the usual mess and homework.

A rowan tree 🍂🧡 The rowan is one of my favo A rowan tree 🍂🧡

The rowan is one of my favourite trees. There's a song about it, and it always makes me think of Quickbeam the Ent in Lord of the Rings, who every time he saw a rowan tree, would lift his tree arms and sway towards it.

One year I made rowan jelly from the berries. It was a beautiful shade of orange and it tasted like nice marmalade.

There are lots of berries still on this one, and the leaves are brown and gold.

Even though it feels like winter now, there are still little bits of autumn hanging on. And it's nice to think that there is food for the birds there 🧡🐦‍⬛

November 🍂 Storm Claudia blew most of the leav November 🍂

Storm Claudia blew most of the leaves off the trees last week. There are still some, but lots of them have gone now. The berries are very visible, lots of hawthorns and still some rowan berries.

Everywhere is muddy! Big piles of sugar beet have been slowly disappearing, and all the rain has made the footpaths squishy.

If I go out at 4.30 pm to get milk or cat food or bits for tea, it's dark and my reaction is "bleugghh!" But I actually quite like it. It's nice to get back home to my cosy little house with my boys and my cats.

It is tempting to dislike November but I quite like it. What about you? 🍂🧡
