    Swirly Circle Skirt

    May 12, 2013March 23, 2016 Living a Creative Life

A few weeks ago the parents of some friends of the boys had a ceilidh to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary and, happily, I had nothing to wear, so it was the perfect opportunity to make something! I needed to be able to feed the baby and I…

    How to Make Breastfeeding Tops

    January 20, 2013March 23, 2016 Living a Creative Life

So Boy 4 has arrived! He was born on 22nd October, 10 days late and looking just like his brothers. It’s so easy to forget just how demanding tiny babies are, even the relatively easy ones. Hence no posts and very little crafting. It’s a challenge just to…

    Advent Calendar

    October 7, 2012December 13, 2014 Living a Creative Life

I’m now 39+2 with Boy 4 and he is showing no signs of wanting to make his way into the world. I don’t know whether to be annoyed or relieved. I remember how much it hurts but I want it to be over!! Anyway, at least this time…

    Bag Tutorial

    February 25, 2012March 23, 2016 Living a Creative Life

This tutorial has taken a little while coming out of my head onto my computer. It would appear that I have taken up throwing up for Lent. It also started a week early, perhaps following some other calender. Grim. Anyway… a bag tutorial!! No pattern needed and it…

    Dino Hat Tutorial

Whenever the boys and I are out, people always remark on the dinosaur hats and are almost always stunned when I tell them that I made them myself. 🙂 Yet they are suprisingly easy to make. Although there are people out there who are very skilled at designing…

    Jewellery Bag Tutorial

    January 8, 2012March 23, 2016 Living a Creative Life

Now that Christmas is finally over I can concentrate on making things that are not jam or dinosaur hats. I’ve made some tiny purses and some earrings, but the jewellery bags have given me trouble. It has to be lined because nobody wants to find that they cannot…

Remember making butterfly pictures as a child? The Remember making butterfly pictures as a child? The ones I made the other week looked like flowers.

So I made them look more like flowers with a pen!

There's really no right or wrong way. Just draw what you can see in the shapes 💖🌸

After I made the colour schemes for April, I had a After I made the colour schemes for April, I had a look back at the ones I made for March. One of the March colour schemes was actually very similar to an April one.

It probably says quite a lot about which colours I like at the moment!

And it stands to reason that at a time of year when there is a lot of blossom, colour palettes are going to be similar. I don't think I could choose between them, it would be like choosing a favourite child! But I think it is interesting that the April one is definitely warmer, reflecting how spring changes from March to April in longer days and warmer weather.

If I think to, I might look for similar colours in May too, and make another colour scheme to compare with the others 🌸🌱🌿

Did you ever do butterfly paintings as a child? T Did you ever do butterfly paintings as a child?

The theme in April's Wild Blossom Companion is reflections. Sometimes our hands want to do something creative but we don't know what, and the Wild Blossom Companion has ideas of things to do within a theme.

I started off combining butterfly paintings with landscapes, and as I often find with anything literal I felt a bit anxious about whether what I was doing was any good. But that's kind of not the point! It's supposed to be playful exploration, not something that makes stress and anxiety worse! Plus the acrylic paint stuck on one of them and the paper tore.

So I gave that up and just blobbed paint onto the paper instead.

I think they look more like bunches of flowers then butterflies 💐what do you think?

And yes, I somehow managed to forget that phone needed to be the other way round! 🤦🤷🤪
