This post contains affiliate links. At this time of year, when the trees are waking up and there’s blossom and green shoots appearing, I realise that I am bored of winter. I actually quite like winter. I like being tucked up in my funny old house with the…

One of the things that’s on my sewing/ crafts/ mini internet empire to do list is to create a range of craft kits where the designs are already printed onto fabric. Inside my head there are bags, purses, aprons, even a lovely skirt with giant flowers and a…

This tea mat project originally appeared on the Minerva Crafts Bloggers’ Network. Since their site relaunched, some of the older stuff has gone, including this. As I’ve had several people ask about it, I’ve rewritten the post with the pattern here. When we moved into our funny old…

In England, we are about a month into Lockdown 3. This time they’ve shut the schools again, so as well as my 2 home educated boys, I have my teenaged Covid schoolies as well. Things were slightly in different in Lockdown 1, mainly because the schools didn’t have…

Those of us who are inclined to be messy often jump on the “Let’s Get Organised” bandwagon in January, and in my house, this year is no exception. One of the things earmarked for sorting out is the fabric mountain behind the bedroom door. It has got so…

Remember making butterfly pictures as a child? The Remember making butterfly pictures as a child? The ones I made the other week looked like flowers.

So I made them look more like flowers with a pen!

There's really no right or wrong way. Just draw what you can see in the shapes 💖🌸

After I made the colour schemes for April, I had a After I made the colour schemes for April, I had a look back at the ones I made for March. One of the March colour schemes was actually very similar to an April one.

It probably says quite a lot about which colours I like at the moment!

And it stands to reason that at a time of year when there is a lot of blossom, colour palettes are going to be similar. I don't think I could choose between them, it would be like choosing a favourite child! But I think it is interesting that the April one is definitely warmer, reflecting how spring changes from March to April in longer days and warmer weather.

If I think to, I might look for similar colours in May too, and make another colour scheme to compare with the others 🌸🌱🌿

Did you ever do butterfly paintings as a child? T Did you ever do butterfly paintings as a child?

The theme in April's Wild Blossom Companion is reflections. Sometimes our hands want to do something creative but we don't know what, and the Wild Blossom Companion has ideas of things to do within a theme.

I started off combining butterfly paintings with landscapes, and as I often find with anything literal I felt a bit anxious about whether what I was doing was any good. But that's kind of not the point! It's supposed to be playful exploration, not something that makes stress and anxiety worse! Plus the acrylic paint stuck on one of them and the paper tore.

So I gave that up and just blobbed paint onto the paper instead.

I think they look more like bunches of flowers then butterflies 💐what do you think?

And yes, I somehow managed to forget that phone needed to be the other way round! 🤦🤷🤪
