DIY Embroidered Christmas Star When I was younger, I did a lot of Christmas crafting. I used to make cards and decorations and bake stuff. Then I had kids and everything changed! I’d plan to make lots of things, then feel frustrated and annoyed that I hadn’t managed…

Tote Bag Tutorial Here’s a tote bag tutorial! I’m not going to say an awful lot about this, except that I’ve made 2 of these bags for a teacher. They’re the correct size for carrying A4 exercise books, so they’d also be fine for carrying library books or…

On a hunt for autumn colours! πŸπŸŒ°πŸ‚πŸ§‘ Th On a hunt for autumn colours! πŸπŸŒ°πŸ‚πŸ§‘

There's lots of red, orange and brown. In one gorgeous October orange tree I saw a happy crow (I was standing at a bus stop at the time, proof that you really don't need to go anywhere special to find inspiration!).

I spotted a patch of hawthorn on the way to the post office that had beautiful red leaves as well as red berries.

Shades of orange and brown are echoed in old walls and tiled roofs.

On a very damp and foggy morning, I couldn't see more than a few metres ahead of me, which made me much more aware if what I could see. The long grasses are brown and yellow now.

And I've never realised before that my kettle is October orange!

October πŸπŸ‚πŸŒ°πŸ§‘ What I'm noticing: Some October πŸπŸ‚πŸŒ°πŸ§‘

What I'm noticing:

Some of the trees are still quite green, but there is yellow, red and brown as well.

My favourite trees outside the shop in the village are beautiful 🍁

There are lots of berries in the hedgerows and masses of rosehips. They seem to be ready earlier this year. I don't remember that many roses in June!

I can smell wood smoke and people's coal fires. It's not that cold but a fire is always nice πŸ”₯

The evenings are really drawing in now. It's dark by the time I've finished the washing up.

The stars are so bright! And I can see my old friends Orion, Cassiopeia and the Great Bear.

Lots of people have autumn wreaths on their doors, including me πŸ₯° it seems like more of an American thing but I'm glad it's becoming a thing here too.

The last picture is of my silly cat. I think she might be the reason why one of the little pumpkins is no longer on that string of lights, but who could resist that furry little face? 😍

Some creative invitations for autumn πŸπŸŒ°πŸ‚ Some creative invitations for autumn πŸπŸŒ°πŸ‚

In case you have no idea what I am talking about, creative invitations are little prompts designed to encourage joyful, creative exploration without pressure or expectation. There is no right or wrong way and no obligation to produce anything finished or perfect πŸ’–

Here are some for autumn:

🍁 Make leaf rubbings. It's not just for children! Experiment with chalk and crayon, and different colours, single leaves and overlapping.

🍁 Collect autumn colours. You might like to match them with thread, fabric, paint or pencils.

🍁 Make a little abstract picture in autumn colours using your favourite stitches. I like French knots! πŸͺ‘ What about you?

🍁 Take a moment when outside. What can you see, hear and smell?

If you are wondering about the photos, they are of the Peter Scott walk that follows the shore of the wash from Sutton Bridge round to Kings Lynn πŸ’–
