How to Sew a Laptop Sleeve I like my stuff pretty. Not over the top pretty, everything pink and endless ruffles. But I do like pretty things, fabric boxes, cushions that I’ve made myself and I wear dresses for the school run. Laptops generally are not pretty. Neither…

How to Draft a Sleeve Pattern Piece Last week I showed how to draft a simple bodice pattern piece. Once you have your pattern piece drafted, there are lots of possibilities for what you could make with it. You could add a skirt and turn it into a dress,…

How to Draft a Bodice Pattern Piece Making clothes for yourself is a lot of fun, and in my experience, making clothes without using a commercial pattern is even more fun! If you don’t use a pattern (or more to the point, draft the pattern pieces yourself), not…

How to Refashion a Top Into a Dress I’ve had this top in my wardrobe for several years. I bought it because I love the print and the colours. Unfortunately my husband caught me with the camera while I was wearing it and I was horrified to see that…

Sewing a Backpack One of the things I have discovered about being a parent is the sheer amount of stuff you end up carrying about. When my boys were babies, it was little cups, bibs, nappies, wipes and spare clothes. Now they’re older, there’s not much less stuff,…

Remember making butterfly pictures as a child? The Remember making butterfly pictures as a child? The ones I made the other week looked like flowers.

So I made them look more like flowers with a pen!

There's really no right or wrong way. Just draw what you can see in the shapes 💖🌸

After I made the colour schemes for April, I had a After I made the colour schemes for April, I had a look back at the ones I made for March. One of the March colour schemes was actually very similar to an April one.

It probably says quite a lot about which colours I like at the moment!

And it stands to reason that at a time of year when there is a lot of blossom, colour palettes are going to be similar. I don't think I could choose between them, it would be like choosing a favourite child! But I think it is interesting that the April one is definitely warmer, reflecting how spring changes from March to April in longer days and warmer weather.

If I think to, I might look for similar colours in May too, and make another colour scheme to compare with the others 🌸🌱🌿

Did you ever do butterfly paintings as a child? T Did you ever do butterfly paintings as a child?

The theme in April's Wild Blossom Companion is reflections. Sometimes our hands want to do something creative but we don't know what, and the Wild Blossom Companion has ideas of things to do within a theme.

I started off combining butterfly paintings with landscapes, and as I often find with anything literal I felt a bit anxious about whether what I was doing was any good. But that's kind of not the point! It's supposed to be playful exploration, not something that makes stress and anxiety worse! Plus the acrylic paint stuck on one of them and the paper tore.

So I gave that up and just blobbed paint onto the paper instead.

I think they look more like bunches of flowers then butterflies 💐what do you think?

And yes, I somehow managed to forget that phone needed to be the other way round! 🤦🤷🤪
