    Goal Setting and Living Intuitively

In some ways this seems like a better post for January, or perhaps September, as those are tines of the year when lots of people are thinking about goal setting. But I’m sure I’m not the only person who has set goals when it’s not the 1st January…

One of the reasons for the lack of big sewing projects at the moment is that I have a deadline looming. 2 years ago I decided to embark on a foundation course in textiles with the OCA. This was possibly not one of the best ideas I’ve ever…

Reflections on Making a Life, Blessed Are the Weird, Covid and 2020 What with all the pre Christmas busyness of Christmas, I thought Iโ€™d write a different kind of post this week. I know lots of you have probably ended up here because of a tutorial. I love…

On Feeling Stuck Where do you have your best ideas? Apparently Alan Turing had his in the bath. I find that a good, brisk walk is often the answer. If a problem needs solving or if I need to work through some ideas for a project, fresh air…

Colour schemes for February ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค February always se Colour schemes for February ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค

February always seems like a green and white kind of month. Snowdrops, obviously, but also I'm surprised at how much green there is at the beginning of February. The lack of leaves make the greens of moss and lichen, and of evergreens, more noticeable.

By the end of February, there'll be blossom, and maybe even a few leaves ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’ฎ

I didn't before because I thought it was probably not the best idea to get myself into another thing that was potentially addicting! But due to the kerfuffle in finishing the next unit of my textiles degree, I missed the deadline to start in February, so I start the next unit in March. And I still wanted to try it.

These are the best results from my first attempts. The first one is my favourite, which I made with a piece of hessian. The second one was also hessian, and the last 2 were bubble wrap. But even the ones that didn't turn out that well had interesting bits, and the others could probably be used for backgrounds or collage.

I'm going to carry on experimenting. If you've tried printing with a gelli plate and you have some suggestions, please let me know!

Friday weirdness fix ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚ Things have been a bit qu Friday weirdness fix ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚

Things have been a bit quiet recently because I have been finishing off another huge unit for my textiles degree.

As I could have predicted, I got hideously behind and needed about 2 months when I only had a week!

Anyway, I managed to pull it out of the bag and got enough done and sorted out to hand in, and I only had a couple of minor meltdowns ๐Ÿ‘
